Please note a potentially serious reaction when Meperidine is given in conjunction with a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) or selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. This combination may cause serotonin syndrome, a potentially fatal reaction.
Ensure that your patient is not taking a medication in this class if you are administering Meperidine.
